Uri and Abbi Lorkis are excited to be joining the OU-JLIC at Bar Ilan Family in the Summer of 2022!

Uri grew up in Detroit, Michigan. After learning in Yeshivat Orayta, Uri joined the IDF as a paratrooper.  Since marrying Abby, he has been enjoying his time learning as an Avreich in Yeshivat Ramat Gan. Next year, Uri will be starting his bachelor’s degree at Bar Ilan University and continuing his learning at the Bar Ilan Center for Torah and Yeshivat Ramat Gan. In his free time, Uri loves to play hockey, write music, do yoga, and is slowly working on becoming a better cook.

Abby grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After learning in Midreshet Harova, she was deeply inspired to move to Israel. After making Aliyah, Abby worked in the Heritage House tourist center in the Old City.  The following year Abby moved to Givat Shmuel, to pursue a bachelor’s in social work at Bar Ilan University. While on Campus, Abby took the opportunity to learn at the Bar Ilan Midrasha where she was able to grow in Torah while completing her studies. Abby loves nature, and in her free time, you will likely find her water coloring or out in the fields exploring different kinds of plants.

Uri and Abby will be moving into the Bar Ilan dormitory and cannot wait for the amazing journey that lies ahead of them. They are looking forward to being part of the growth of the community!
